ABOUT THE RESORT:

Newly opened and just a short drive north of Ubud, Ulu Valley Retreat sits on a hillside in the Sebatu highlands, where rainforest canopies and rice paddies stretch across the valley below. With just 18 suites and villas, this is Bali at its most quietly considered, as cooler air and a slower pace allow for a genuine sense of distance from the island’s busier south. Cultural detail is woven through every corner of the retreat and curated activities offer a sense of life in Sebatu.

The retreat’s two-story restaurant and pool bar, NawaRasa Dining & Pool Bar, draws its ingredients from Sebatu’s regional seasonings, garden herbs and local market produce, creating a menu with a strong sense of place. Sanga Wellness Spa takes a similarly considered approach, with the spa perched above the valley for open views while the yoga shala sits beside the rice paddies below for a quieter start to the day.
